Camera...where/how should i buy?

im looking to purchase a digital camera for myself in the next few weeks and Im just wondering if anyone could recommend the best way to do this. Basically ive been looking on eBay and seen quite a few good deals but is it such a good idea to buy an item such as a camera on eBay or would you recomment buying it in a shop…

The Photography forum is best for this , there is a sticky about buying cameras and the best places to buy online.

Also check online reviews before you buy , there is a great deal of difference in quality between the different camera manufacturers.
