Quick one.. I see it mentioned a lot that Sky HD requires a quad lnb..

Surely there are not 4 coax connectors on the back of a Sky HD box?

Or are people just saying quad LNB so that you're future proofed if you want to go multiroom etc., without having to upgrade your dual LNB?

You should be able to use your dual LNB fine, the Sky HD has two tuners for HD (you can actually just use one coax and watch tv fine)

There are 2 connectors on the HD box (as there are on the Sky+ box)

Some people may have a bog standard digibox, with one tuner, and decide to upgrade to Sky+ or Sky+ HD.

As other posters have said, to use all features of Sky+, with its two tuners, two of the LNB's outputs will be used.

The installer usually offers to move the digibox to another room. Then three outputs are gone.

Only single and quad lnb's are currently available for sky minidishes.

A dual LNB is no good at all. That would give two different satellite positions.
You can use a twin-output LNB but, as stated, these aren't available for the Sky minidish or oval dishes in general.

Actually, you can buy them on eBay but these are ordinary "circular dish" LNBs with an adapter fitted - so your rain margin won't be good.

You will find that the term "dual" is used commonly for two-output single satellite LNBs - which I believe is what the poster intended to mean. You can buy twin LNBs quite easily for SKY minidishes. I had one on my dish until it was replaced with a quad for multi-room.
