Signal problems

    Hi,

I've had a sky plus for the last 3 years (pace box).

Since the recent bad weather ie for the last few weeks I've had picture and sound breakup on both live tv and recordings. I'd liken the distortion to a cd skipping...

Signal quality on input 2 is very poor or non existant and I'm getting a message of no satellite signal available on a lot of channels including all the setanta sports channels....

We've got software version sky+4.20.a and I've tried the obvious things like power off, planner rebuild etc but no joy. I've checked the cables on both the dish and the box and there are no loose ones....

Any of you experts out there got any suggestions as to what the problem might be????

    Thanks in advance.....

    Joe

I have had the same problems but it the dish itself that is causing the problem. The transmitter on the dish is the problem. Any slight movement and and you lose the signal lock and the you get the bad reception. Part of my problem is though the angle of my house and my sitting room at the back the pole the dish is attached to is fooking useless. getting it moved to the front of the house and a longer cable to go over the roof. Should protectit from the wind more as the the back of the house takes more of a hammering than the front.

What a load of twaddle. There is no "transmitter on the dish".

Joe, swap the LNB cables at the rear of the Digibox. If input 2 still shows a problem, the Digibox is faulty. If the fault moves to input 1, the fault lies with the LNB or cable.

The input two is simply used to record and so this is not your problem, it sounds to me as if your dish is mis-aligned what is the quality like on input no 1?
