Yeah I have been thinking about getting one of these but there are plugins I have to buy extra for it and Apple will probably bring out a new iPod this year.

A new ipod that will only play ipod type videos.....anyone I know who has a video ipod, gets sick to death of converting videos for them in no time. And there never gonna support xvid etc with future ipod videos. So your paying whatever amount for something you'll hardly ever use. This archos thing lets you store xvids on your pc or anything that has a upnp server (my satellite receiver has one :) ), and then stream films etc to the archos player. Have being wanting something like this for ages, so im gonna wait and see how it turns out. All he needs is wake-on-lan to turn on and off my pc :)

Well I use my video iPod alot for videos and I could do with a bigger screen. The only thing wrong with the Archos is the size. I don't think it will fit in your pocket. Also I don't convert my videos I use this http://www.neurosaudio.com/store/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=DigitalInnovationsCatalog&product%5Fid=4030200&keyword=psp&searchcat=products&cookie%5Ftest=1

Not much info has been released on the the w10 yet though. I would highly recommend anyone with an iPod or a PSP to get the Neuros especially if you have Sky.

Info I know about the W10:

    3 inch 16:9 touchscreen
    uses windows CE
    has mini sd expansion
    8gb flash memory
    has wifi based gps navigation
supports ogg, aac, mp3 and wma
    built in speaker
avi, mpeg4 and h.264 video support
uses a 1900mAh battery (indicating average battery life for this sort of player)

That's quite a bit of info for ya.

It's only a matter of time before the next iPod minus the iPhone part shows up so I don't think anyone will be waiting too long if thats what they want. Apple is also making a large profit on the iPhone from the component cost breakdown so they have plenty of room to price the next iPod.

On a side note I have to say though I really like the look of the Sony PMX-M70 it even has the Sony cross media bar built in (as seen in PSP, PS3) with H.264, Xvid support but goddammit Sony only makes them available in China.

that's actually the first sony dap in years that I'd consider getting. Its UMS too so that really sweetens the deal. If someone really wants it i'm sure it'll pop up on ebay.
The one thing I do not like about it is its low capacity, 8gb (even with memory expansion) is not alot for a movie playing dap.

The Sony and the iRiver don't have enough memory for me. I want at least 80GB. That iRiver and Sony does look nice. This look good aswell http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/20/irivers-unit2-detailed-on-teaser-site/ and http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/09/cowon-q5-pmp-gets-priced-and-dated/.

Q5 is bitchin, but very big and very expensive, especially in euro. The highy cost is mainly down to the gps capabilities of the Q5.

iriver unit 2 never really caught my interest, i don't know why, i think i should do some reading up on it
