Hi folks, im having a problem with my orgional xbox at the moment.
For ease of storage ive had it standing on its side for a few months and i hadnt played it in a while. But i got it out again a couple of weekends ago turned it on and began playing. After a few minutes i get the message 'please reinsert the joypad to port 1'.
When i remove and reinsert the pad it works again fr a few more minutes and the message comes up again and so on.
I have tryed each of the ports, several games and have the xbox back on a level surface. But this problem remains.
The xbox is not modded in any way. Would modding or flashing the box reinstall the ports? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe it's the wire on the controller. Have you another you can test it with?

Good point Professor, i must give that a try this evening.
Although the pads are well built, im hoping its not an internal problem within the xbox.

Yep its more than likely the wire. Ive had this with an old pad myself. You can pick up wireless ones handy enough for cheap on ebay.
