What's the correct procedure? I haven't crashed so far, fingers crossed but I'm on my 2nd provisional now and I was thinking if I were out driving around by myself and e.g. someone drove into the back of me, I wouldn't have a clue what to do so what should I do?

Check your rules of the road book, the procedure you should follow is in one of the last chapters there.

if there are any injuries ring the gardai and ambulance and wait for them to arrive.

if there are no injuries exchange insurance details and go on your way(assuming the car is driveable). ring your insurance when you get home and they will talk you threw the procedure from then on.

if the other person will not give them to you take his reg number and if you can get the details from the cert in the windscreen then ring the gardai and wait for them regardless of weather the other person waits or not.

In the Dublin area, the Gardai rarely attend 'material damage only' accidents unless the accident is causing traffic disruption or unless they witness the accident themselves. In such cases the accident should be reported to the nearest Garda Station as soon as possible.

Even if you are at fault, it can be in your interest to report it, regardless of what the other person does or even if the accident is quite minor.

Exactly, you are required to kow this. You could be asked about it during the test.
