Little car game for console

Does anyone remember...

console game (atari maybe?)...was a little red car (it wasn't a race car). Would start race with other cars, which would zoom off into the distance. You would then be left trying to catch them up...if you bumped into them you could either crash and explode or if you wiggled the joystick (:D ) then you could just keep going. As levels went on the scenery changed, there was a forest snow scene and a mountain scene. Oil tankers appeared from nowhere to run you off the road. Oil patches and water patches appeared which slowed you down to almost no speed and you had to try to pick up fuel on the way which I think was off to the side.

It was a one player game. You could play two-player game but you weren't playing against each other...i don't think. Had level A (easy) and level B (harder).

Point was merely go get to end of route quicker than other cars...first second third. You could run out of time. You had a few lives.

Used to play this when River Raid and Chuckie Egg were popular, back in the day.
Anyone any ideas...am going mad trying to find it. cheers micamaca

I remember this game. Used to play it as a kid but I cant think of the name of it. I don't think it was an Atari game because I never had an Atari. Could it have been a NES game?

I don't know if it was NES too...don't know much about computers.
It was a friend's brother's computer...a cartridge went into a black machine on the top left corner...

bugging me as it was the only car game I ever liked. love to find it again

I remember playing that on an old apple computer in school about 20 years ago. The teacher would put it on if we were good in class!

yup! I think that's the one! Fair play to yah!

My friend's brother must have had one of those versions of it.

These are the scenes I remember...would love to play it again. Will wait till the boss comes home to find a safe site to download from! That's great you found it!

Thanks for that, I had spent hours trawling through pages and pages of listed games. Now I can get back to doing other stuff...will try to get a hold of it to play it now
