    Hi,

I'm heading to Florida on Thursday. I fly from Dub to Manchester at 3am Thursday morning and my connector is at 6am. With the step-up in security at the airports and hectic queues from what I see on Sky news what do you recon my chances are of making the connection in time? and if I dont what happens?

Just so I dont double post. If I have a connection is my baggage allowance for the connecting flight based on my allowance for the main flight or am I bound to the limits set for flying from Ire to Eng.

    Thanks in advance.

It depends..are you're two flights on the same ticket?

If no: then if you miss the second flight, your tough..and Ireland -> England will be subject to it's own limits, not the onward flight

If yes: then they will normally (check your own ticket conditions) acommodate you on another flight and normally the luggage allowance will be the larger of the two.

its a no, I booked the flights myself on expedia. They gave me the flights and connections automatically and theyre with different carriers (AerFungus and Virgin) but I presume it's technically the same as me buying the flights individually myslef.

I fricken hope that I'm not hugely delayed although any time I've travelled to America through England I've only really needed 40 mins for the connection.
Will the fact that I'm checking in at 4am make it quieter do ya recon?

Has anybody been in Manchester within the last day or so and if so are the queues for checkin out the door etc.

    Worried,
    Wisesmurf

Yeah, I've just looked at the Aer Lingus website and the earliest flight to Manchester on Thursday leaves Dublin at 06.30.

And looking at the Virgin site it shows a flight at 10.25 and 13.30 but there's no mention of an earlier flight

    Hi

I'm in the same boat ( or plane ).

I'm on the 6.30 to Manchester this Sunday, then getting a connecting flight 2.30 hours later to Boston.

AFAIK I have just one ticket, i.e. its a code share with American Airlines and Aerlingus.

So What Should I expect when I get to the airport, will I have to go through Security again? I'm thinking I won't need to pickup my luggage that should be done for me and put onto the connecting flight??

    Thanks

No you wont need to collect you luggage but you will have to race from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 which is a big race.

OK cool, will I have to check in again in Terminal 3? Or will aerlingus give me a boarding pass for the second leg? meaning i can go straight to security?

By the sounds of it, Aer Lingus should be able to check you through and issue a boarding pass for the second leg.

However, in true pessimist style, I never completely on such things when travelling.

sorry its 6:30 am. Thanks for the warning. I was just guestimating re the time I was in work when I posted the original and didnt have the tickets to hand.

I land in terminal 1 and depsrt from terminal 2. So I'll have to go get my bags and then re-check them in. It'l be a race. Hopefully the bar in manchester airport is open at around 9 so I can get a quick 5 or 6 in.....:D

Anybody got experience on manchester airport over the past day?

Just to let you know. No delays or visable increased security in manchester. Bags were auto-checked all the way to Florida for me. The connection was fine, we had to kill an hour when we got there. The resturant after security is rank! if you have to eat, eat burgerking in the main terminal.

Now just to combat the jetlag and pray for sun..
