Is it true that the church bells tolled the cuckoo waltz when Laurel and Hardy were on a ship that docked there?

I saw a video of an episode of the US version of "This is Your Life" from '57 or so recently, and one of the guests said the same thing, so chances are it either arose from that time, or was actually true.

Maby you should look up old copies of the Cork Holly Bough. It always has interesting trivia like that round the Christmes. I'll ask my step-great granny at the weekend. She's 100 so she's bound to know.

Although I wasn't around at the time I do believe it is true.

The Holly Bough? Oh God love us, is it still on the go?
