Just noticed this has a floating barrel. Does this even matter since its an airsoft, i thought a floating barrel was something that only mattered to a real rifle.

Not at all. The floating barrel design is also implemented in KSC USPs and various other pistols and rifle designs.

Bad thing about it is that the barrel and ejection port cover assembly rattles when the USP slide is locked back, but when it's fully foward there is no rattle as the assembly is fully locked in place, meaning no effect on accuracy.

Dosent matter in airsoft. It's only for realisim.

BTW that gun is 370fps, way above the legal limit.

Some more interesting background info + review on (higher-end) airsoft-versions of RAS 'floating barrels' here.
In Conclusion - Though both companies claim to use real steel dimensions, and promise functionality, both finished products do not live up to their promises.

So indeed, per liamo's, for aesthetics / authenticity. Then again, considering how many airsoft low (& higher-) end product do suffer from the infamous 'barrel wobble', one has to wonder why they'd go the free-floating way at all. Perhaps as a 'legitimate' excuse ;)

Thats kinda what i was thinking, but seen as the only gun ive seen with it is over the 1 joule limit it wont matter.
And is that link working for anyone else?

Link is working fine, just tried it again.

Here it is in full, if any help:

Info about the real steel SR-25, for which Knights conceived the free-floating RAS, [on which the replica Dboys is 'hybridly' based, as it's only a S-system model, not an SR as such] is here.

Not the same thing. Floating barrel is a where the barrell is only attached to the receiver and not to the foregrip or stock. Wouldnt think it would make a lot of difference to airsoft.

I was talking about pistols. Floating barrels are incorporated in them also. :)

Has a different meaning. Floating barrel on rifle/carbine is a fixed item unimpiared by stock or foregrip and aids accuaracy. Floating barrel in a pistol isuch as HK as mentioned or Glock etc. is part of breach locking system in blowback.:D

Lol, I know, that's what I said. I was simply stating that floating barrel has no effect on airsoft devices, whether employed in a rifle or a pistol.

    Clear as muck eh? :D

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm confused since the first post. I thought this thread was about some 'floating' barrel magic trick involving David Blaine or similar.
