PC Connection Problem

    Hi,

I am trying to connect an old Dell PC to either my Sony LCD TV or a cheap LCD monitor I have - in both cases I am using a VGA lead that came with the cheap LCD monitor. I can't get a signal to either; any ideas why? I thought it would be a straight forward connect one to the other!

    Thanks.

Are you trying to set up a dual display setup or are either of these two displays the only display on the system ?

Just a single display, its an old (4 years or so!) PC that was gathering dust (the CRT monitor was binned a couple of years ago) and I decided I would use it now as a music server...went to set it up last weekend and encountered this problem. I really expected it to be straight forward process

Have you checked that the monitor you are using works on a different machine first off to narrow the problem down to the pc. If you have then it could be the video card is shot. When you turn on the pc i assume there is power, do you get any beeps, this would indicate an error when it runs.

Yeah sounds like it's the PC that is probably the problem not the displays.
