Web browser for the DS

I want to get my DS online, and have been looking at the options. I mainly want it for things like email, checking local information and web based messengers like meebo.com.

I'm somewhat prepared to pay for the Opera Browser, but what is the functionality actually like? We have a wireless network in our house, can I enter my key and have Opera store the information? What is the connection like? Are there many areas in Dublin (or indeed elsewhere) where it has functionality.

I have a DS-Xtreme so is there a homebrew alternative? I have a version of Linux that apparently has a browser built in but I can't get it to load.

    Any help appreciated.

I haven't tried the Opera browser yet, but while looking for the DS lite version of it last week, I found that Argos are selling the DS version for 29.99 euro. Despite the catalogue saying it was for the DS lite only. Usual retail price is 44.99 euro.

the browser does not support flash so web based browsers dont work on it,it is fine for email and browsing though.
I have one and love it to bits.

The functionality is limited to sites that don't force you to use ActiveX, Flash or multiple windows, and I don't think it supports layer objects either. Everything else is quite good though, the two viewing modes mean it works well on the small screens... Connectivity wise, do you mean areas in Dublin that have Wifi? Because it will connect anywhere you could connect a laptop with wifi for example. You don't set the connection settings in Opera though, they're part of the DS firmware and can be set from the settings screen on the main startup screen. You enter any required settings, including static IPs and encryption keys if required, and they're stored on the DS and used by any software which can use net access not just the browser...

Don't forget, for messaging you can get a homebrew MSN client and there's homebrew apps for collecting RSS streams and giving local weather. (I've not tried them myself so can't vouch for their quality). It's not as handy as having it all in one app without resets to change functionality, but if that's what you want then buy a PDA or laptop and good luck getting Pokemon and Mariokart running on it ;)
