Blocked drains

after the last few heavy downpours, I noticed my back garden is water logged due to the water coming from the downpipes from my roof pouring out into the garden. The drains that they are supposed to drain into seem blocked and can't handle the volume.

Is there anything I can do DIY to try free them up rather than have to pay a company to come out and have a look?

You can hire rods but they'll only work if you have enough access to bend them into the pipe at a workable angle. Chances are any blockage is concentrated at the open end of the pipe so you could get your hands dirty and have a fish around and see what you scoup out. Then blast a hose in for while. If the downpipes in the way I'm sure a bit of effort with a screwdriver/wrench/spanner can remove the obstruction.

    Mike.
