I see hundreds of trainee recruitment jobs advertised on irishjobs and the money touted is very good, are there that many jobs and how can the money be that good, ive thought about trying to get into it but I have never been involved in sales or have a sales education?

basic is anywhere from 20-35 + commission.

my sister works in recruitment and her commission was €5k last month, so the money's there if you're happy to sell your soul every day

what do you mean by selling your soul? and how many clients would she have to have gotten to get a 5k commission? is is a high pressure job?

Do you realy want to be a recritment consultant? Now there's an inflated job title :D

There are absolutly loads of threads on recruitment agencies here so do a search and you'll get the info.
I'd say you have more than enough experience and qualifications as it is.

I see you are checking out a few different jobs and this seems to be the worst choice of all

I know two people working in recruitment, both earn good money and both work hard for it. It's like any sales job really, if you're willing to put in the work and have the innate knack of a good salesperson you'll make plenty of money. If you're not a "natural salesperson" you've got to work a lot harder to make your commission, which isn't really worth it imho. The basic isn't great if you're not that good (again like most sales jobs).

From the stats I've seen at work....no. The money is there for a few, the rest are scraping by. Trust me.

There is excellent money if you are good at it. However it requires hard work and a natural ability to sell and a degree of luck.

If you are not good at it/unlucky.

It is also quite sleazy. However it is also something that you could set up for yourself after a couple of year.

Ask what proportion of new consultants are earning the OTE after a year.
Ask what proportion leave within a year.
Interview them they aren't doing you any favours.
