FN-FAL in .22LR ??

One of the board members posted some pics of an FN kit
that was all pieces here before I cant remember who.

Anyone know where or if I could get an FN-FAL in 22LR and
what hassles I need to go through to obtain one.
Can a gun dealer in Ireland get one for me if I was
    to pay up front?
I know they exist as there are conversion kits and
also later on companys made them in .22
but I cant remember where sells them.
Or if a gun dealer in Ireland could get me one.

One of my favourite firearms of all time has been the
FN-FAL. I fell in love with it as a teenager while in the FCA
and have many fond memories of it.

I have always wanted a replica as a wall hanger and I found out today
I can legally without a licence or any hassle simply buy
an airsoft version under a joule that will be full metal body and fire
little plastic BB's on full auto. This would cost at least 550 Euro
    probably a little bit more.

It got me thinking If I could get a real version of the FN chambered in .22 without too much hassle it would be better agian as I would enjoy stripping
and assembling it (which I would not be able to do with a toy!)
I would not care how accurate it would be as the joy would come from
owning one rather than having some sharp shooting piece of kit

It was Manic Moran in the US that had the parts kit.
Try Sabre Defence in the UK.Talk to Guy Savage [owner and very good helpful fellah].

You will proably be better off doing this as a personal import,as it is one of those "idonlikedelookodat" type guns:rolleyes: And you know what sort of bollixes we have to deal with in Limerick div hqs.
Most Gsmiths I have talked to wont even dream of trying to import a big cal semi rifle.
For what it is worth in hassle .Iwould suggest you try and get the full blown 308 with a training kit gunsmithably converted to .22 so if you ever decide to go to 308.A qualified GSmith could remove the 22 trainer kit and you have a cool full bore.
