Guideplus trouble with Sony HX750 DVR

    Hello all,

With the help of you big brained beauts (!) I was able to set up Guideplus on my Pioneer DVR a while back and it's been working perfectly since (ie with NTL Digital).

But now I've added a Sony HX750 DVR to my collection (don't ask) and I just can't get Guideplus to work.

The settings in the two machines are slightly different so, unfortunately, I can't just copy what I did with the Pioneer.

Can any one spot where I'm going wrong here -

    I go to 'Basic Setup'

    Language: English

    Country: United Kingdom

    Postal Code: BT71NN

External Receiver 1: NTL - Pace - Line 2 (NB: The Pioneer allowed me select 'NTL Bromley', which was correctly recommended on these boards for tricking the machine in to thinking I was UK-based, but the Sony only allows you choose 'NTL', an exact location can't be selected)

External Receiver 2: SKY Digital - SKY Digital - Line 1 (I don't have Sky, but on the Pioneer choosing this setting gave me the RTE1 and RTE2 programme listings)

    External Receiver 3: None

I'm fairly certain everything is okay up to this point - the DVR is able to change channels when it sends a signal during this process which I think means 'so far so good'.

But I'm guessing my host channel settings are the problem.

When I go to the host channel set-up section I'm asked to choose a 'Source', either Tuner, Ext Rec 1 or Ext Rec 2. I actually haven't a clue what I'm meant to choose here, but I've tried all three!

I know I have to use ITV as my host channel - when it asks me to choose a 'Programme number' do I put in 3, ie the position where I've put ITV on my DVR/TV? If not, what number do I put in?

Has any one any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    Thank you.

    PS

Just double-checked how I had everything set up...not sure what to do with the scart connections going in to the DVR. What worked for me on my Pioneer was to put the scart from the TV in to the Decoder scart on the DVR, and the TV scart in to the Decoder scart, ie back to front! Any experts have any thoughts on this re the Sony? Thanks!

    TV -

    (1) Scart connection (Ext RGB)....to either Line 1 or 3 on DVR???
    (2) Ant In....to DVR

    DVR -

    (1) Aerial In
    (2) Aerial Out
    (3) Scart (Line 1 Decoder)....from TV or NTL???
    (4) Scart (Line 3 TV)....from TV or NTL???

    NTL -

    (1) Scart (TV)...to either Line 1 or 3 on DVR???
    (2) Scart (VCR/AUX)....empty
    (3) Cable In....aerial plugged in here
    (4) Cable Out....to DVR

I used the 'easy setup' on the sony setup menu and used a UK postcode. I think it uses one of the BBC's as a host channel, but the guide was limited to the 4 UK terrestrial channels. BBC1, BBC2, ITV, C4.
I tried using Eurosport or ITV as the host channel and never got guideplus to work.

We had a power failure one night and now GuidePlus will not update anything no matter what I do !! :((
