As a matter of interest did anyone else get any money back due to this??

I have removed the name of the site in case of any bad pubcity for them.... although I actually think they did a great job weeding the offenders out and redistributing the ill gotten gains..

A large credit was made to this guys account (but not enough he reckons) and he had noticed the huge drop in his win rate over the last month or so..

    Wonder how they caught them?

    Hello,

SITE NAME has become aware of players who were working together in our Sit & Go tournaments to the detriment of other players. You were involved in at least one tournament with these players and as a result you may have been adversely affected.

The players' accounts were closed and their funds frozen pending a thorough investigation, which is now complete. In a case such as this it is our policy to confiscate the colluders' winnings or balances and to distribute them to the players affected by their actions in as fair a way as possible. To confirm your credit, log onto your SITE NAME account, go to the 'Cashier' screen and click the 'History' button. Your share will be shown as a "Credit Purchase", followed by the amount of the credit.

I regret that we will be unable to answer questions as to how your specific credit amount was calculated. Likewise, we are not at liberty to identify the specific games or players in question. Suffice to say that they have been barred from the site and you will not encounter them again.

The integrity of the games at SITE NAME is of paramount importance to us and we will not abide cheating or collusion in our games. We work hard to police our games and prevent such instances. In the rare cases where collusion has actually occurred, we make sure that any players affected are compensated appropriately.

Thank you for your continued play here on SITE NAME. Please do not hesitate to let us know any time we can be of help.

    Best Regards,

    SITE NAME

I guess the other one will get deleted so i'll post here. Were the low/mid/high game if you can say? Sites are pretty sharp catching people who do this and after a few high profiles cases i'm surprised its been tried again.

Should have said... the player that got this mail is not me.....the player in question plays $100 sng's only and multitables them 6 at a time... he is a non boardsie and got a considerable sum but not enough to compensate him for the losses he claims...

I'm sure they worked it out fairly if he didn't know what was going on then something is better than nothing.

I'm pretty sure they did too.... I think it was great that they discovered the problem and rectified it... very honourable if you ask me... first time I've ever heard of it but maybe it's more common than I think?

why did you post that email/letter if you dont name the site?. If your that concerned about hiding their identity just dont post about it. besides by them emailing players they are as much as saying they have nothing to hide so carry on and im sure they dont need people making it into a hush hush type thing. Unless at the end of the email they wrote "Now im telling only you so please keep it quiet"(wink wink).

There was a well known winner of a large MTT who got his winnings taken away after they discovered players could register two accounts and play the same tourney. All the poker forums went mad when it came out!

Im guessing here that this is the process:
    • colusion identified
    • accounts suspended
    • monies in all accounts totalled
    • game history reviewed
    • any players affected compensated*

    * (again only guessing) I would say compensation would be provided from the monies available at a certain ratio to buy ins of the games players were involved in.

Speaking of this kind of thing there is a wonderful photoshop in a current 2+2 thread, the thread is about Zeejustin and Hellmuth clashing in WSOP, read the whole thread for maximum effect of the photoshop pic, obviously you need to know Zeejustin was a notorious online multiaccount player in tournies:

A non boardsie in the Jackpot asked me to post it for him. I wasn't sure if I would get the forum into trouble by naming them..... so I removed the name.... If anything I think it's a credit to them.... If anyone really needs to know who they are then PM me.

He was really wondering if anyone else got the same mail...

    only the messenger

By far the best PS picture ever for sure! I didn't see the one in the backround until someone posted quality! The banter between him and Hellmuth is pretty good as well.

Pokerstars do have a good history of refunding money to players who have been affected by collusion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,201 ✭✭✭Macspower

After checking with mods we agree that it's good publicity for the site in question..

It's Pokerstars.... fair play to them..
