can't see laptop in workgroup

The laptop can neither see itself or the pc in the mshome workgroup. Both are set up on dhcp. ran the xp network setup several times and turned off…

laptop and pc wirelessly connected to silver eircom broadband router. No problems getting broadband. PC can see itself in the mshome workgroup but cant see the laptop there. The laptop can neither see itself or the pc in the mshome workgroup. Both are set up on dhcp. ran the xp network setup several times and turned off the firewalls - still no joy. Laptop is running pc cillin ( just in case that makes a difference) Even turned that off and no difference at all. Kinda want to get some network games going soon. Any suggestions?

Are you wanting to share folders?

If so, network neighbourhood/places is a waste of time. Use the UNC method (http://compnetworking.about.com/od/windowsnetworking/l/bldef_unc.htm) This can also be used when connecting to a shared printer!
