Garmin settings help please

When I set my Garmin Nuvi to bring me to a particular place, on the bottom left of the screen it tells me when I'm going to arrive. Very nice, but not very useful during the journey.

What *would* be useful is a speed indicator - and if I'm *not* travelling under the Nuvi's instructions, the figure there does tell me my speed.

Is there any way to change the settings so that corner always shows the speed, and you can click through to see your ETA on a further list of fascinating statistics?

(As it is, it's unsafe. You look at the road, look at the map, look down at your speedometer - that's two 'looks' that are away from the road. If the speed was on the Nuvi, your eye would take it in at the same time as checking the map.)

I know you can change this setting on the TomTom, but can you change it on the Garmin?

No - it cannot be done. You could at times leave the trip meter on display with the very big KPH indicator and go by voice directions.

Oh, *what* a nuisance. I like to see the map as well as have the directions. Thanks for a definitive answer, Eirman.

I know alot of people find the estimated time to arrival useful and I've found it usually fairly accurate too. Plus I have a big speedomoter right in front of me so never find it an issue as the unit tells you the directions anyway. Plus 2 glances aways from the road is not a hue issue unless you're travelling at 200 mph or something.
