I like the composition of the second one.
What shutter speed were you using?

Nice detail in the first one.

Yeah, first two look great :) The third is also good - I just think the composition makes it look a little artificial or something... Think it's the shadow of the stamen in the centre - shows the artificial light being used. The second one especially stands out though - the kind of thing you'd see on a wall in someone's fancy house ;)

I really like the first one, very nice indeed. Lovely light in all three. Pity about the chopping in the third one but overall really good work there, nicely done and keep posting :)

Yup the texture in the petal(s?) of the first one really stands out.

thanks for the feedback guys. got my 400D a few moths ago but havent had too much time to play about with it as of yet. recently invested in the tamron and a nifty fifty so really eager to get out and start shooting some more.

dont remember the settings for the shots but ill check this evening when i get home and post em.

thanks again ... oh and those are some nice cherries !

Lovely shots but the first one really stands out. How did you get the black background for them?

Cool, they turned out rather well, looking forward to seeing you post more often. :) Keep up the great work.

well ive always been interested in photography but the price of film was always a bit prohibitive when it came to experimenting. got the 400d on a trip to the states a few months ago to enable me to do just that.
Checked the settings on my laptop at home this weekend and it turns out these shots werent with the Tamron but with the kit lens with the following settings
    1. f/16 1/320
    2. f/4.5 1/640
    3. f/14 1/200

the shots were taken in fitzgeralds park without any additional lighting/background and I just played around a little with the brightness and contrast settings on DPP (canons bundled software) to darken the background
