Never played 2 but 3 is pretty detailed. Didn't realise what I was getting into when I began. Tried to bring Leinster onto the world stage but those darn brits just won't allow it!!! Good game with a huge depth to it.

Hi Pimpy does it run at a reasonable speed and where'd you get it?

If you want to intervene in Ireland's history the simplest way is to cheat.

In EU2 the save files were easy to edit. Get an army across to Wales then cheat and make it huge. SMASH ENGLAND.

Alternatively survive with a united or largely united Ireland (better not to start in Leinster because the English will keep trying to get it) until the 17th century. A well timed intervention at this point can split Great Britain in 4.
It can be fragmented between Puritans, Royalists, England and Scotland. Play them off against each other, Strengthen Ireland and conquer the highlands of Scotland.

With luck you might get a colonial empire in the bits of North America that no one else wants.

That's about as good as it gets for Ireland, but alot better than reality.

I've played EU I, II and III. Whether you'll like EU III will probably depend on what you liked/disliked in EU II.

    EU II:
    Pros:
I liked the many and detailed events
    Cons:
    Very addictive

    EU III:
    Pros:
    National advisors
    Less exploration micro-management
    Less recruitment micro-management
    Cons:
    No national events
    Starts later
    All countries seem samey
Interface (the log gets hidden under other windows)

Having said that, I've enjoyed some of my EU III games for a while, for instance as Muscowy and Spain, but overall I got bored soon.

Can you play the whole world. I hated the fact that Central Africa, Australia and Siberia were hidden. Maybe to France but what of I play the Golden Horde can't explore Siberia LOL, the Mamelukes couldn't explore aAfrica LOL.

Not the whole world, although there are new provinces in for instance Siberia and also Africa if I remember correctly (haven't played in a long time).
