downloading problems please help

    Hi lads got my laptop two months back, I am not the greatest at this tech stuff.
    My problem is that when I try to create file for download "an error occurred while unzipping, one or more files were not successfully unzipped. the error code is 40 message appears on screen this has happened a lot over the last two months not sure if error code is the same every time. Have I done something wrong? Is it something I have to do first ie on first start up when I got it. Or is it something very basic i must do first before i try download.

    ps This message appeared today as I was trying to download file from fisher price to change Dora know your name phone for my kid. if this helps?
    I am sorry if these are stupid Q's BUT NEED HELP!
