$100 buy in tournie. 15 min blinds. (500+ players) starting stack 2500
    380 players left
My Stack: 4,200 (chip average 3,500)

    Blinds 75/150

I have been moved tables 5 minmutes ago and i have the chip leader (he has 21K) to my left.

He has shown down some mucky hands like Q9o and won with top pair while i have been there.

folded around to me and I look down at 33 in the SB. I raise to 450.
Villian in the BB re-raises to 1600.

at this stage of the tournament is this a shove or fold
ie. are we happy to be taking a coinflip?

Fold all day long... at best you get called it is fifty fifty at worst you are behind to higher pair.

IMO there is no justification to calling in this position... so early in the tourney I dont believe it is worth making this play for 2k when there will be a lot easier ways of adding to your stack early on.

See if I were sure that it's a coin flip with two over cards I shove

Problem is that he could always turn up with a real hand and any other PP other than two has you in real trouble you have 3750 left to win 8475 which means you need 44% equity and while you are never much ahead here you could be crushed

Its a fold for me here, he very well could be trying to bully, but a low pair isnt enough to push with nearly half your chips.

def would not shove here, he made the correct RR to give you the bare option of the shove and unless he has ace rag hes calling.
    def fold.

I think with his stack and the fact he has shown down some less than premium hands I don't think he is ever folding here

Because no - one ever has anything in blind on blind battles.

    Is this sarcasm?

I'm sure it's online, which isn't too bad.

I agree with Lloyd, I also push, we'll usually take it here but I don't mind a light call either.

Edit, the description of villain and the size of his stack makes it more likely he'll call light, I'm deffo pushing, and more than happy to race.

its ok when you win a a seat in a 10$ sat. with a 50K overlay

I shoved given his range. he "almost" laid down QJs he called on the last micro second of the timer. and obviously won.

    not result based bb thread

but wondering if talking a coin flip which it will be 95% of this stage of a tournament is worth taking. I want to put myself in a position where i can afford myself alot more play so still feel shove is the better option.
