Depends on what type of firms you are applying to. The big and medium firms tend to accept applications Oct/Nov, whilst with smaller firms there's no hard and fast rules, as they tend to recruit ad-hoc as and when required. Having said that though, some smaller firms will recruit apprentices when their own apprentice heads off for the PPC-1, so immediately before and after the commencement of a PPC-1 course is a good time.
