A big shock i got in work this morning!

    Well, i went to work this morning with a horrible hangover after Aerosmith last night, which was pretty damn amazing. Anyway got in and what did I find but a shot of mine had been used for a full page ad for work in FINS magazine. It was taken when Laird Hamilton visted recently. If you don't know who he is youtube him or go to his site www.lairdhamilton.com . He's amazing. Anyway just thought I'd share my joy!

    Cheers. No credit since it's an ad but will look good in my portfolio none the less. He's considered pretty much the best surfer in the world. He's invented and started a lot of things that are now used a lot in surfing such as towing into bigger waves (he's been towed in by helicopters into hugeo nes) and paddle surfing and stuff

    Two things spring to mind:

    1) Awesome work, reminds me the style of ad used many years back for Marlborough fags!!
    2) How did they get your image if you didnt know it was in there or being used??

    Actually, just because it's an ad doesn't exclude thepossibility of a credit. A lot of the kitesurf ads have the photographer and the kitesurfer credited. This I know cos I have been doing my homework.

    Great shot, Laird is on a different level than most other surfers, he's part of that north shore tow-in crew that just does the biggest waves in the world.... I hear they are intrested in that wave off the Cliffs in Clare?

    Hey cheers for all that people. Well I sent the shots in the night he was over, sent them into work and knew they were going to b used for something but didn't know it would be a full page etc. I'm just wondering about payment, I'm working on that at the moment. Just if anyone had a ballpark as to how much something like that would be worth????

    Oh I should have said, I work for 53 Degrees and they were the ones who brought him over to Ireland so thats how I got the photos etc. And yeah he mentioned Clare in a talk he gave but said they didn't have time to go this time around since he was oly in the country for a day
