Im going to go to austrailia for a month or so to visit a friend and see a bit of the place.

I'd like to have a stopover in japan for a few days and then on the way back stop over in thailand to visit more friends that are there.

Does anyone know which airline would be the best and whta type of ticket would be the best to get? I don't know where to start in my search, so anyone thats done anything like it let me know what you did!

Try Quantas, the Australian National airline.
Air New Zealand are a possibility too, as are Cathay Pacific.

I flew to Australia with JAL (Japan Airlines) a number of years ago. I went via Osaka on the way out and returned via Tokyo. Whatever type of ticket I had they would only allow me a stop over on the return leg of my journey.
