It's a nice interview, seems like a nice chap, a bit clueless though. (too small to be a MMA guy? There's a 145 division in the WEC). I'd love to hear he started training MMA and teaching a bit of boxing to MMA people.

Yeah, i read that this morning.

So odd to find a balanced viewpoint when boxing and mma are talked about in the same sentence!

If he comes over to fight Dunne John Kavanagh should get him down to his club after. He'd be a great addition to a ring of truth card.

well that was badly written on my behalf, i didn't mean it to look like because he didn't mention the 145 division that he was a clueless, it was just an impression.

but to address the weight class, I'd like to know how much cutting he does to get that low and secondly I'd have to say that he'd need to put on a lot more muscle all around to be competitive at mma. Maybe he is too small after all and I am the one clueless!

yes you are clueless, for a boxer to do well in mma he would need a powerful punch-otherwise his main advantage would not be effective and would not make it hard on opponent to risk taking him down, imagine missing a takedown against tyson-not nice, and if he g n p you that would not be nice either-wayne does not possess these attributes and knows this.

No I think you're wrong. For a boxer to be successful in MMA he needs a great punch and a shed load of luck. For a boxer to transition to MMA he needs to learn how to wrestle and how to submit people. He's a bit long in the tooth but if he's lucking for another challenge why shouldn't be start learning the game. Better then going into a boxing match and getting his head boxed in.

because he would be just like any other bloke trying to take up mma at his age-he would have to start from scratch as his boxing is not going to k o anyone, and its not a 12 round slugfest so wayne would be wasting his time-im a boxer and would not bother with mma if i could not punch hard, im learning the rest but boxing will always be my main thing-so im never going to be the best bjj player. neither would wayne be-i dont think you have any understanding of boxing or mma to be honest.
