Cant see how this is gna be good, most of the missions in the games are winks to movies as it is and Timmy O looks nothing like agent 47 !!!He looks like a giant baby with his head oiled.

noticed t-bag from "prison break" in there

hate small flash player for trailer - very very tiny.....

i think it looks promising, even if tim olyphant looks nothing like 47

He looks way too young, but I love the games and I'll give this a chance. If they do it right and make it a good thriller instead of an all out action movie it could be awesome.

In some shots he looks good, in most he looks too young. Jason Stathem would have fit almost perfectly. Don't like this guy, but I'll give it a chance being a fan, and dying for a good adaption. They seem to have kept the storyline from the games. Clones and all that. I hope they don't go throwing a love interest in there. A little flirt with Diana, maybe. They better not try to give him 'personality' and one liners either. Oh, I'm dreading this. *shakes fist at Hollywood*

Exactly what I was gonna say, I'm suprised the trailer is out considering last time I heard about it 20th Century signed up Vin Diesel.

    +1
I hadn't though of Jason Statham but you're right,he'd be perfect for this role

Eurgh, just watched it now. Man, does it look bland. And the actor looks nothing like the game's protagonist AND he doesn't even look remotely hard. He looks more like a pissed off cancer patient or a skinhead that would cry if you cussed at him. I smell another game-to-movie shìthouse.

Vin Diesel would have been shocking altogether, I was delighted when he pulled out. I dont know if Jason Statham would have been any good, if he was in it it might turn into a s***pile like crank or something.
They are probably going to give him a love interest because Hollywood studios dont do movies without them, and they probably will give him some personality because they want the audience that hasn't played the games to get "emotionally attached" to the charachter or some other such nonsense.
Never mind the fact that he is a remorseless killing machine. Its a movie adaptation so these things are to be expected.
I wonder what the protected by divinity stuff is about, bcause that sure as hell wasn't in the games. I'll give it a chance anyway.

    horrible horrible trailer.

    nice music though.

thats the one thing that really put me off,all that divinity stuff and what looks to be a "prophesy" at the start... "it has been said that a man will walk the earth blah blah blah" i mean 47 is a test tube baby !

Never mind the fact that he just doesn't give a flying f*** about anything except his next pay cheque!

Poor casting for the lead rold tbh. Guy just doesn't look bad ass enough. Too young, not built well enough either. Vin Diesel fits the bill except he's a sh1t actor.

    nice music though.

It's Ellen Dritter Gesang (Ave Maria) done by Shubert. It was used as the opening screen music for the latest game, Blood Money. Probably what I liked most about the trailer. I'm trying to ignore the 'chosen one' thing. I hope they're just trying to make him sound like a bad ass or something. Terrible job, if they are.

I thought Agent 47 was a cold heartless killer with no morals and only cares about the money.

Now in the film he is going to save the world for us all by killing people who thoroughly deserve to die.

There had better be a LOT of piano wire in this to make up for the sh*tty casting!

    New trailer

    http://media.movies.ign.com/media/499/499143/vids_1.html

Jury's still out but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Not sure about all this church business, or that he's here to rid the world of evil. No sign of the fibre wire either, and thats 47's trademark! Looks like there is some good action in it, even though thats not what Hitman should be primarily about. But despite all that I am also cautiously optimistic.

They'd have to give him morals, wouldn't they? Still, they're keeping to the style of the games. I'm still hopeful.

    Things wrong with the trailer:
-Too many explosions and 47 with machine guns
-He's naturally bald, why is he shaving his head?
-You don't stick the barrel of a sniper rifle out the window, you stand back from the window so nobody sees you, d'oh

Apologies for the bumb, but it seems that the film may be in trouble. A number of sources are reporting that Xavier Gens has been pulled from the film after his edit was deemed to be too violent. The initial edit was deemed to be a hard R by the studio.

Nicolas De Toth has been brought in to edit together a PG13 version, much like he did with Die Hard 4.

A PG13 Hitman film  Have these people even played the games?

PG-13? Oh, FFS. I already struggled to believe that the last Die Hard flick was Pg-13, but this profiteering fixation with the PG-13 rating is getting silly.

    It is physically nauseating!

I hate taking the trite and cliched view but it is as clear as day that Hollywood has gone to the dogs.

Im not naive I know the big studios were always profit motivated but it has now reached heights were big films now have absolutely no artistic merit whatsoever, the advertising campaigns have become much more important than the films themselves.

Now I dont know whether this is the stuff the big studios have just decided to give us or whether they are responding to changes in tastes. But the state of film these days is truly shocking.

Im sure there might be one or two slipping my mind but the last truly great film, I mean a film that could realistically be considered as the greatest of ll time, to come out of the studio system was Raging Bull and that was 27 years ago. It is very very sad.

So they are toning down a film whose very concept is about an amoral, murderising bastard?

Oh Hollywood, you foolish fools you. Way to miss the point completely.

I just threw up in my mouth.

What an awesome word! And yeah, I was just complaining to the missus about that - while "toning down" in certain films can keep the same standard or possibly even force a more creative approach from the director, in a film about a genetically engineered killing machine it doesn't make sense. The whole premise of the film seems to be the emergence of 47's personality and decision to step away from the world he knows; if we aren't shown the cold brutal nature of the world he's always known, why would the redemptive character arc have any weight?

    'redemptive character arc'
R...eeeeeeee.....du..... What. What the ****. I hope you're pulling this out of somewhere dark and dirty? Hold on, lets see if I can work that vomit back up.

I don't particularly like the idea, but taken from Wikipedia:

"Agent 47 (Murad) has been educated, from his genetically-engineered "birth", to become a professional assassin for hire, whose most powerful weapons are his nerve and a resolute pride in his work. 47 is both the last two digits of the barcode tattooed on the back of his head and his only name.

The hunter becomes the hunted when 47 gets caught up in a political takeover. Both Interpol and the Russian military chase the Hitman across Eastern Europe as he tries to find out who set him up and why they're trying to take him out of the game. But the greatest threat to 47's survival may be the stirrings of his conscience and the unfamiliar emotions aroused in him by a beautiful, damaged girl..."

From the stirrings of his conscience and development of unfamiliar emotions, I'm assuming they're going to go for a redemptive story arc. Kind of like when the Mortal Kombat movie included that guff about "it's not about death, but life", when the entire franchise was in fact only famous for its excessive goriness and more specifically the option to kill your opponents at the end of the battle. *sigh*

*sigh* indeed. Who am I kidding, I'm going to watch it the day it's out. And now it's being watered down? :(

I don't think anyone who has ever produced a film based upon a game has played one. If they had then we would'nt have had to endure Alone in the Dark, or Resident Evil: Extenction.

We all know that we'll be there opening night. At least there's the promise of an Unrated DVD being released with Gan's initial cut.
