    Hi,

I moved into a new apt, where the previous tenant had Sky installed. He took the box with him but the dish is still on the roof. Since Sky uses Astra satellites, can I just buy normal satellite box, plug it in and get free Astra channels?

    Thanks

    J

if you get a free to air receiver or a second hand digibox you will pick up all the free to air channels like BBC1,2,3,4, ITV 1,2,3,4, sky news cbeebies, men and motors, true movies1,2 etc. assuming the dish hasn't been moved by the wind
i'd get a fta receiver myself as this will let you rearrange the channels

You'll get the Free channels on Eurobird and various Astras @28.2E
Not the Continental free channels on Astras @ 19.2E or 23.5E
