Villain is a bit of a maniac(60/20), but have not seen him losing any big hands.

I hardly ever min raise, but thought this a good spot against this villain. By the river I really couldn't see what he could beat me with that he would of raised flop and called min raised turn.

    Fold/Call?

The min raise is horrible, after it there is 25 in the pot and he has about 110 behind him, how exactly do you plan to get his stack?
As played call, he has some 2 pair combination a good bit I'd imagine along with the higher straight.

raise more on the turn, especially given read on villian. easy call on the river. he'll be bluffing busted club draw/value betting a worse hand most of the time.

Id put him on Q10s, wouldnt have minraised on the river and probably would have shoved a little more on the turn.

Would ppl say AJ is unlikely with his flop/turn action?

No not necessarily, I'd say his preflop action makes it more unlikely he has aj tbh. You'd expect a 60/20 to raise that preflop with only 1 limper and SB completing.

His range is wide open for taking a stab on the flop given our read and since he's picked up a double belly buster on the turn his bet and call of the min raise (awful btw) are completely standard.

I call here, there's no way I'm ever throwing away the second nuts against a 60/20 (how many hands?).

Wow that minraise is unbelievably bad. I would call here.

f**k, I played it very badly.

What should I have made the turn bet, I didnt want to scare him away, I guess thats why I made my pussy raise on the turn. I think if I made the turn raise anymore he would of folded there and then. Greed got the best of me.

I let the timer run down to the end before I could figure out what to do. He showed 53o and left the table.

I seriously never like to min raise, and I bearly ever check raise people, all though it's something I've been looking to incorporate into my game. Can anyone give me advise as to why not min raise (cooker made good point about how am I going to get his entire stack in), and when to check raise?

    appreciate the replies

    peeko the donk

i occasionally minraise the river for value or as a bluff. in your hand you want to get as much as possible in the pot. minraising will rarely accomplish that.

It's amazing how you can play well for such a long period of time, and then blow up in the space of 10 minutes. cheers for the words Ian.

this is such a horrible fold

AM I missing something here? The only hand that beat you is AJ? There is no way he can have this hand here after the action. If he does shrug it off and move on but never ever fold unless he shows you AJ first!

Jeez, I almost feel like spewing myself over this. It's as if you know you played the hand bad on the turn and now because of that you're in morbid fear that you have left the guy in cheap with the one hand that can beat you, it's like your punishing yourself by folding. You simply can't fold this, especially against a maniac. Man I feel queasy after this thread

Cant see him holding AJ here and not raising PF in the BB. The min raise is bad, but not calling is terrible, after he handed you his stack, ....however Nicky's right that video does make you feel better :D

60/20 and you folded

i bet you went on uber monkey tilt after he showed and legged it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 900 ✭✭✭CaptainNemo

He could have had AJ of clubs, that's basically the only way he could be beating you on the river and have the hand make any sense at all. Even then it wouldn't make much sense. I can't believe you folded!

Does the thread really need anyone else repeating what's already been said to make peeko feel bad?

3 more should do it i reckon ;)

Seriously though, You thought you had a read and you followed it. Its good to trust your instincts. Don't let the odd misread blow away your confidence.

Ah so there was a possible flush on the river, this correct? If so it makes the fold more understandable. It's easy to say after the event since we know it was a bluff from the maniac but I'm not even sure if I'd still fold.

    Hi Peeko,

I really don't lke much about this hand to be honest..

I lead the flop.... played as is I make the turn a much larger bet (as Ian says your looking to get his stack in the middle)..

And on the river he goes and does what you were looking to achieve and you fold.....

    Really don't like this one..........

    Mac

    Hey Mac!
Don't like the min raise at all, and deffo should of called the river, but I made a small mistake with the HH! There was a diamond on the flop, making the river complete a possible flush... I still don't like the way the hand played. We live and learn.
