    Hi there,

I'm new to Green Issues but find the whole area of climate change/rewable energy etc v. interesting.

I got a new book last week that some of you may have read or would like to read - I haven't been able to put it down!

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Six-Degrees-Future-Hotter-Planet/dp/0007209045

He did an article in the Sunday Times Magazine a couple of months ago ...

Anyone have any opinions on this? I'm not even finished the '1 degree' section and its already terrifying, and I hope for all our sakes, he's wrong!

Well I finished this last night and the conclusions were pretty grim.

Lynas' research leads him to believe that if we don't PEAK our Co2 related emissions in the next 8 years, we will go over the 2 degree threashold, and the positive feedback cycles will kick in, leading to a runaway climate. I think the cut off for the 2 degree rise is 450 Co2-equivalent PPM, and it currently lies at 382.

Again, highly recommended but not if you have a weak heart :/

Edit: Some very interesting articles here: http://www.marklynas.org
