    Hey,

I am from an IT background, couple of years as a Software Engineer and 1 as a pretty Senior Test Engineer which really involved developing an automated test harness from scratch. I want to move into a Business Analyst role. I know there are a huge amount of different ways into these types of roles and they vary in nature.
But just any advice on how i could get into a BA role or any sort of diplomas that would be a good add onto my degree to increase my chances.

    Cheers.

Look into the ISEB business analysis course. You'll have a diploma in business analysis at the end of it.

I'm a business analyst. I started off after I graduated as a software developer, mostly web based. It was for a small company so I actually ended up doing most of the requirements gathering, developing, testing, quality and gathering feedback directly from the customers myself. (along with other developers).
After a couple of years I discovered I enjoyed the analysis part much more than the developing part. And also, no offence to any developers, I found it difficult to relate to the other developers. I don't know if this scenario is common or not but they drove me nuts. They wouldn't share knowledge or be team players. I think they liked to keep there developing secrets to themselves. And to be fair, they were faster at developing than I was.
But anyway, I loved the interaction part whereas they weren't so good with communicating. So I left that job and looked for a BA job. Got a pretty good one and I'm still doing it two years later.
I work with both developers and customers and I really enjoy it. I also manage all the projects. I think as I had a bit of experience in BA in the first company it probably helped. I also think coming from a technical background is important, as I work with other BAs not from a similar background who sometimes struggle with understanding developers lingo.
You may be able to push some of you current work which is half-BA related in your CV. I also had to show show examples in the interview of documents I had written. Might help to create some.
