    Hi,

Well, after multiple posts and loads of advice I have finally finished my new build. Here is the spec:

Case: Zalman FC-ZE1 Fatal1ty Champion Computer Enclosure
    PSU: Seasonic M12 700W
Mobo: EVGA nForce 680i SLi PCI-Express Motherboard
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme Edition QX6700 2.66GHz (@3.2)
    Cooler: Zalman CNPS9700-NT nVidia Tritium
    Memory: 2GB OCZ (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition
Harddrive: Western Digital Raptor X 150GB
    GPU1: Point of View GeForce 8800GTX 768MB
GPU2: Nvidia reference GeForce 8800GTX 768MB (From Dell XPS)
    DVD: Samsung SH-S203BEBN 20x20 DVD±RW
Sound Card: Creative X-Fi Music Edition
    Floppy: 13-1 Floppy
Keyboard: Microsoft Optical Desktop Keyboard Fingerprint
    Mouse: Logitech G5 Laser Mouse
    MOnitor: Dell Ultrasharp 30" Widescreen
    Speakers: Creative Inspire T-7900

My first run is 3dmark06 came up with 15888

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=2311556

Is that a good score for the spec. What tweaking would you recommend for increasing.

Oh Yeah, running Win XP at the moment as Vista was giving too much trouble. Seems to be an issue with Vista and Raptor drives.

    Thanks.

Well, I'm not sure what you want people to say...fishing for compliments are we?

Its an excellent score, and 3D mark is comparative so you would have seen the "your score here" graph, I'm guessing you were near the top of the scale?

I'm not sure what tweaking would do for you, you already have a system that can run any game without batting an eyelid. Unless you are a serial/hardcore overclocker, your system is fine for gaming for another while yet.

for the spec that is a very good score. But if i was you i would not be happy untill i broke 16k. So best you start overclocking a bit more :p

How is the case btw? I was looking at getting one, but couldnt warrent the price, especially as it used front 80mm fans !

The cool thing about the case is that the whole case absorbs the heat, like a giant cooler

I can see so many problems with that statement.

1-You want to air to heat and leave the case, not for the case to absorb it and hold it
2-All cases are made of metal and act as a part thermal transfer of heat to the outside
3-If you have good airflow none of the above should matter.

I bet that the words max and extreme are used many times in the marketing blurb.

Case is great. So solid and runs pretty cool and is super quiet. I have a fan controller so can pump it up if I need. Only problem I have it my second 8800 being on the bottom does not really get into the Airflow and runs a bit hot.

I'm actually going to sell it as I need more room for a watercooling setup if you are interested I can do you a good deal along with the MOBO!!!

adverts.ie will have me broke soon :(

Ill pass on the case though, i got a v2000a which is just big eough for my watrcooling setyp. And if i buy any more fatal1ty products ill become a fanboy !

Well I meant that that this case in particular acts like a giant heatsink...

which is a bad thing. As heat gets trapped in the case instead of leaving it!

does a heatsink not take the heat from whatever its on a transfer it to air???

im not being smart im honestly curious

For a cpu or graphics card yes. But for a case no. As you have nothing to blow cool air onto warm metal to lower the temp. Zalman do however have another case that is a giant heatsink. But it is laced with heapipes. and the case is covered in fins. For a normal case it is a bad thing.

ah ok i understand that now once the air around the case heats up there is nothing to move it away and replace ti with cool air....................beside an open window it is lol

pm'd you by the way op

The "heatsink" you desire for a case is cold ambient air outside the case.

Bought a new case. Went for the Thermaltake VD4000BWS LCS Kandalf

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-045-TT&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=715

Time to start a bit of watercooling!!

Thermaltake eh? With all that nice hardware it really is a shame to use sub par TT watercooling, honestly it's probably going to be worse than a really good air cooler. But the rest of your rig is sweet, for reference I get 12065 on a GTS 640 @684/1050 and an E6600 @3.6Ghz.

Not what all the reviews are saying. Considering the price iand you have a tripple 120mm radiator and a p500 pump and it has to be the deal of the century.

Also, since its my first watercooling setup I wanted to keep it simple.

Yeah I got a pretty good chip I guess, and you've got a pre overclocked one and all, mine was a standard EVGA:p. It's under water BTW;).

Ok I understand that you wanted to keep it simple that's cool, but TT use crappy aluminium rads, weak pumps, badly designed blocks and they seem to like to ignore a little thing called galvanic corrosion. If you decide to do your WC again I'd suggest you go custom, a lot better performance and lots of fun too.
