Anyone playing on the MP site?

I've recently signed up but not lodged any cash yet, mainly did so for the International PO registration.

Any info on standard of existing players in the $10 STT / $5-20MTT range or cash for other interested parties?

Its on the BOSS network so the standard of play will no doubt go a little downhill - imo - very soon (Yahoo have signed to the network so there will be a lot of brand new players coming on stream)......

I've only played a couple of tournaments so far (playing mostly WSOP qualifiers over the last few weeks on Stars) but managed to go deep in a MTT on Mermaid and I really liked the setup....Standard of play was average enough (players could fold but there were plenty of loose calling stations)......

Selection of games is really decent. Regular $20 - $50 MTT's which is what I tend to look for.

They have good bonuses etc and I know already that their customer support is top notch.......My one and only quibble with the network was that when tables were breaking players were dealt in when moved into between the small blind and the button.

Anyway I'm hoping players like the site, but would defo like to hear feedback.

My recollection of this network from the time I played there is that all tournies were Freezeouts without exception. It seemed to be mainly European players as well, and the standard wasn't great. I withdrew my money and never went back, but not for any specifc reason other than I never bothered just. The software I thought was alright, but it might not be to everyones taste. There seemed to be regular updates to the site and they introduced Omaha when I was playing there, so development seems to be ongoing there.

There also seemed to be sats there for a lot of the UK events that run, but maybe that was just the skin I played under, SportingBet.

What does Mermaid Poker have to do with you Carfax? I thought it was owned by a bunch of Danes.

    couple of down points...

When you play a satllite, it doesnt tell you what date or time the tournie you're qualifying for is on at
    The STT traffic isnt great
    Notes function isnt great
You cant check to see where you are on the leaderboard in a MTT in relation to the rest of the players
    You cant resize tables

Standard wise, i havent found it too tough although i havent played higher than 2/4. I've played more STT and MTTs tan cash games and if you sit tightish for the first blind or 2, you're usually in good shape. I like the interface too and 5 handed STTs and far more easier to cash in than 6 seated STT IMO.

I'm the co-owner of www.pokerireland.ie and we're an affiliate for Mermaid.

They're sponsoring the International Poker Open on Oct 6th which we're running. The whole idea is that although the event itself runs at a fairly sizeable loss the fact that we are signing up 1,000 players (or thereabouts) in one go will generate enough play on the Mermaid site to make the months of preparation and work worthwhile for us in the long run......(For any readers that don't know about the International Poker Open check out www.pokerireland.ie or email me on stephen@pokerireland.ie)

Its really the way I hope all big live tournaments will go in the future so players can get great value from a live tournament and an online sponsor gets a direct group of new players.

Some really good points Tony. Thanks for being so straightforward about it. I'm sure Anna will be reading here too so we'll definitely be able to use what you've said here to improve things.
