Mike Tyson....I grew up watching his fights and videos about him, to me he represented what a boxer was. Okay so the story didnt end pretty, but he was a tremendous boxer and I always feel quite a tragic figure(although I am not naive enough to believe Mike is 100% victim)

I've loads of favourites but Ali is my all time hero, i also loved tyson, mcguigan, who both got me into boxing, foreman is another hero of mine-and then sugar ray leonard as a boxer was unreal-in the modern day i would have to say barrera and morales both are just so entertaining and great fighters-i could keep going but thats enough right now, i know i'll stop typing and think of another 20 that i should of put down!! Dunne is my main man at the moment but thats the irish link more than anything, duddy will be next and anyone else that i can jump on there bandwagon-cant wait for our next champ as there is nothing like having an irish champion..

well it has to be Tyson ,.... in fact Tyson by a mile !!!

Mike |Tyson had absolutely everything,...... his speed as a heavyweight was and still is unrivalled !!!! His hand-speed was so bloody fast.
he had agression, was fearless, he struck fear into the hearts of opponents.
his skill at defence was incredible for a heavyweight,.... the sweet pea of the heavyweights.
His natural strength was amazing,..... overcoming his height disability.

His mental and physical ability was nutured, matured , fine-tuned and perfected.

the result was a fighter that nobody in the world could compare with.... groomed into a level of talent that has never been matched.

But ...Tyson was a bad kid,... in fact he was a total scumbag, an abusive theiving, untrustworthy bullying self-minded killer.
that attitude took position of prominence in his life-style, ended up a rapist, jail-bird drug-taking fool,..that wouldn't train hard , refused to do roadwork,.... lost some of the quality's that are needed to be a champion.
    He lost disipline.

Tyson was the greatest in my lifetime,...... both the greatest ifigure of boxing AND the greatest waster of talent.

I've been a fan of Mosley since I first saw him on eurosport years ago, before he beat DLH the first time so I reckon he'd be my number one.

Tyson and McGuigan too because I was practically brought up on watching them fight.

I like McCullough too, and moreso now since he came out and defended MMA.

Ali for me...greatest fighter, greatest sports athlete and one of the worlds greatest personalities. He was more and way more than just boxing

Other fighters I loved were SRL who had no weakness IMO and Hearns, who if had a granite chin, would have been practically unbeatable. He was such a great boxer. Barry McGuigan was superb, and James Toney was also a big favorite of mine. I would actually bet on Toney at his peak to beat any fighter at 160/168 lbs...he had it all.

I like Chavez too, despite me thinking he was beatable by many. The slick speedsters with chins will always beat JC over 12. I just loved his methodical clinical style and his effortless body punching and steel chin. He at times looked asleep and lazy, but it was all a facade really.

Holyfield too, amazing speed and combination puncher for a heavy.
Foreman for his achievements in his 40's and his performances against
Frazier and Norton, as well as his devestating KO of Cooney. One of my favorite KO's ever.

The best boxer....mmmmm....would be a close run thing between Sugar Ray Leonard(in his prime) or Muhammad Ali. Hard to compare boxers of different times and weight categories. What made both of them was the number of classy opponents at their weight at the time, in the case of Leonard, the likes of Hagler and Hearns helped make Leonard even better, while Ali had the likes of Frazier and Foreman.

While Tyson would be the best fighter - nasty, mean, brutal and devastatingly efficient, in his prime. Just plain embarrassing after that.
