Tuning drums

I have had a drumkit for, nearly two months at this stage. Bought it and said I'll teach myself! Problem is, I cant get the friggin things tuned correctly! They sound awful! Anyone got any tips on how to tune them correctly??

This is a rather extensive guide. I used it when learning to tune my drums, and if you're not interested in the whole aspect of it, you can easily flick through to the actual tuning sections
