I just got a second hand PSP from gamestop for EUR 190 or something. With 2 games, 1 GB memory and protective case. Its in really good nick as well. I have been well impressed with mine so far and you can pick up second hand games for fairly cheap so i have about 6 games already. Just been playing LocoRoco and Pirates.

I'd get the one with the memory card and game.
The psp is a good console and will serve you well as long as you take care of it.
Its got a few good games out at the moment,
such as LocoRoco (quite possibly the best platform game on any playstation console ever) Exit (another very good platformer), Tales of Eternia (a very enjoyable rpg, thats long and has a good battle system) Syphon Filter Dark Mirror (the best action/adventure game on the PSP with a control system that actually works for a third-person shooter on a console with only one analogue stick) and Burnout Legends (for someone who hates racing games like me to find one that I loved is a big thing).

Also, if you are interested in final fantasy, you'll probably want Final Fantasy Anniversary edition 1 & 2 , Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions and the new Final Fantasy 7 game, Crisis Core (an rpg where you pay Zack in the events coming up to FF7)

ps: I've never heard of a way to put ff7 on the psp, where did you hear of it?

Second hand stuff from Game and Gamestop are usually pretty good as they do have to reach a stanard before they will sell them on. Defo get a memory card, not only for saving games, but for the odd movie and stuff. The PSP will probably have Ver.3.50 firmware or there abouts on it. The new Lumines exploit is the only way you will be able to play homebrew stuff on it, so you might want to pick up a copy of that.

I have had mine bout 3 months now and still love it. Second hand games are cheap now so I have picked up some great games for as low as 10 euro. Xtra Vision have clear out sales every so often and you should take a look there for games.

You might as well get the one with the 1gb memory card because the cards are expensive enough to buy them on there own and if you buy it 2nd hand you might only get the 32mb card which is crap..And you will need a big card if you want to put ff7 on it and yea it is pretty easy to put it on the card just as long as you read the instructions well :D

Are they bad scratches? I have a couple of minor ones on my second hand psp but they are nothing to worry about. You can only really see them with a white screen so i dont even notice them when playing a game.

Believe it or not, Brasso is brilliant on the plastic screen and body of my iPod. Apparently jewellers use it in some instances on watch faces as well to take out scratches. If you were going to try it, use a tiny bit in a corner of the screen. And rub it in, and polish it out, very gently.

I got a PSP a couple of weeks ago, downgraded the firmware, installed Dark Alex 3.40 firmware and was able to play FF7 on it, I initially used Popstation GUI to convert my own FF7 disks, but couldn't get it to work well, mostly PAL games don't convert well, so the only option is to locate them on the internet. Great though being able to play to old PS1 games, am hacking away at all 3 crash bandicoots at the minute, never played them first time out despite owning them all, plus I am also addicted to Mario 3 on the NES emulater, 18 years after I was addicted to it on my NES ! Great little console if you know what you are doing and are willing to learn a bit about it.

I used to want a GP32 for its ability to Emulate butthe PSP is even better if you ask me. I am surprised it is not selling better because of its ability to do all of this stuff in the right hands. But then again, I guess the fact that non-sony PSP material is so easy to get hurts game sales, not to mention how easy it is to download and play any pirated game you want. Its a shame I hope the Sony picks up and does well (and thats saying something coming from a Nintendo fan !) For me its ideal, I got a 4gb sandisk card for about 60 bucks from mymemory.co.uk, now I have a few albums, a couple of movies/tvshows and several games with me when I am on the road, its great because I travel a lot.

Shame about the battery though. Bout 3 hours + most of the time. Anyone know where I can get cheap but good batteries for it ? Will be travelling to OZ soon and would like a few batteries so I can keep myself entertained the whole way.

Sometimes a pixel is "stuck". Apparently rubbing it gently with a very soft cloth
    can sometimes bring it back.
