Great news - Ive always found the 7pm start to be a little early. Its just too much of a rush after work.

I presume Noel is being a tad sarcastic as it never started before 8 anyways.

I think it started at just shy of 9pm last month - nearly 2 hours after the scheduled start time. I arrived at 7pm last month so i could get some dinner before an expected 7.45ish start. 9pm was just ridiculous.

I have been in 3 times since 'the incident' and it looked fairly busy each time. I think this will be a good guide as to the sustained level of custom though, but until such point as there is somewhere else to go (apart from current options) numbers won't be affected that much.

I may be wrong, but I don't think anyone really knows... Just people slating the Fitz without facts... As I said, I may be wrong, but I think that's the case with a lot of people.

PS. Congrats on the kid :)

Luke had a disagreement with the directors and was "let go". I dont want the in's and out's of this dissected here and both parties have asked me not to allow it to degenerate into a public debacle.

I am not personally going to be boycotting the Fitz, its silly. However you may have seen me around in the SE recently as I am checking out other options I have as a poker player.

    Now, please back on topic.

    DeV.

Please, I aint slating the fitz it just aint the same since Luke left. Correct to say nobody actually knows what happened and the facts are still uncertain. However the ''gossip'' I have heard has made up my mind with regards to going back to the fitz....

P.s Dom I was only taking the pss with regard to the picket remark so no offence intended my man..

Hello from New York by the way

I am also very sorry that Luke is gone, but at the end of the Day the Fitz is the still the Fitz, and it still feels like home (I know stupid) to me. The Fitz will still be standing, still the same players, (I split the Sunday game with Bernie and Paddy "The Dyson" Hicks...)

I am on a "Players" Committee in the Fitz which reports back peoples concerns about Tournaments, structures, food etc.,etc., and I have forwarded to the powers above peoples views on Luke’s departure and I like everyone else firmly believe that the Fitz will loose out in the long run.

I was always a great supporter of the Fitz over the years as everyone knows, but I also go to the SE and occasionally to the Jackpot, both clubs are great as well.

The EOM Tourney will probably have smaller numbers due to Holidays etc., impending trips to Vegas etc., we will wait and see. And I know that it never starts on time.

It's up to everyone what they want to do with regard to Luke leaving and I wish him the best in whatever he endeavours to do, but at the end of the day, I love playing Cards and I like the tourneys in Fitz and occasionally the cash games etc., so I will continue going there.

Danny, the last time I played this the structure was:

    6,500 starting chips

    25 / 50 / 20mins
    50 / 100 / 20 mins
    75 / 150 / 20 mins
    100 / 200 / 25 mins
    150 / 300 / 25 mins
    200 / 400 / 25 mins
    300 / 600 / 25 mins
    400 / 800 / 25 mins
    500 / 1000 / 25 mins
    700 / 1500 / 30 mins
    1000 / 2000 / 30 mins

etc, etc. I assume 40 - 65 runners given the time of the year / recent developments etc, etc.

If I am wrong on any of this it would be great if someone from the Fitz could clarify what the structure actually is for thursday.

I played in this 80 + runners, €10K first prize, I was motoring along on 13K with blinds 300 600, Limped in in lp with QhKh,

Flop comes down, Kc 2c 4h, checked to me, I bet 1,200 re-raised by button to 2.5K, I called,

Turn is the Qs:) I checked he bet 4.5K, I re-raised all in for 9,900 and he called with 3c4c:eek:

Needless to say the Ac came on the river and im gone. Loads of cork people there, I had Side show Bob, Ollieboy, at my table. Apparently Namir (based in Cork) had more chips than god. Great turnout and a tough field. Alot of people that were playing were heading to Vegas over the weekend.

Next year, next year, next year, sigh sigh sigh

Yeh good turn out last night, 83 players in total.

I bust out 19th, was short all night and knock out Bob (cork Bob) to get my stack up to about 14k which was my peak. Struggle to find a hand after that and playing short hand I had to get busy. UTG player limps for 1k, button calls, but players range is very wide and I felt a push with my monster 107 os was a good move, decided against it, take a flop and push with any pair, flop came 876 2 h's, I check, utg check and button bets 4k, which means nothing as he bets and push all the time. I decide to make a stand, my read was perfect, he had straight draw and the flush draw and over card...lol, so read good but odds terrible. Anyway, K h's on turn and good nite.

Enjoy the game, would have like to play more hands during the night, but always in bad position or lack of cards.

Smurph's Martin was in good shape when I left, Dave O'Callaghan was down to the felt and there was 2 monster stacks, the rest of the players were playing shortstack poker.

Only bad thing about the night is the late start again and the 45 min dinner break, this is far to long. It was 11 pm and we were only on level 4. Pls start on time and let the dinner be self service next month with a 15 min break after level 4.

^^ What time did it start at?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,079 ✭✭✭smurph

It started at 8.40 p.m. which is good, but instead of serving food at table they had a Dinner break which lasted 45 Mins which was kinda bad,

    Ah well,

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,859 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

Back to the bad old days of the long dinner break. I think the buffet thing they put on is the better option tbh.
