Usb Length Limits

Guys, just wondering if there is a limit to the number of usb cables i can attach together using usb hubs ? I understand that the max design length of usb cables are 3m for Usb1.1 and 5m for Usb 2. Would i have power/signal problems if i connected 2 or more 5m Usb 2 cables together via hubs ? Reason i ask is that we are using a 3 data modem, which has great signal at upstairs windows, with line of sight to mast about 2km away, but limited signal downstairs. Problem is one person has trouble using stairs. Im thinking of getting a Draytek wireless router which will work with the usb data modem, but until i find out if it is suitable, extending seems the only answer. Dont want to buy extra hubs until i hear some other thoughts. Thanks.

you would have to get cables with boosters built in,

think they're about 7 euros each from all cables

Cheers Anti. I suspected that might be the case. Matt, booster cables seem to be the answer. Thanks guys.

    Have a look at this,
it has a range of 150ft but you would need to confirm with them if it would cover your needs.
