Cheap Meds in the Med

I always buy my meds abroad, for me and my whole family. Whether presciption or non presciption they are much more easy going outside IRL, UK and Nordic states. Don't bother with US, you can't get asprin there:)

For instance ,my mum is on Lipitor daily(cholesterol lowering drug very expensive) this is about 1/2 price or less in southern europe, spain, portugal, greece, canary islands. You don't need a prescription either.

Also my sister takes a acid reflux pill daily ( omeprazole) I bought this on a skiing holiday in Bansko Bulgaria ( dump!) for €7 per packet. I paid about €13 in Spain whereas here in good old rip off Ireland, you require a presciption every 6 months ( so pay for the doctors visit) and then the tablets here are about €70.

Even the pill ( Yasmin) is about 1/3 cheaper.

I would guess that the same applies to Flixonase and other allergy relief. I've bought Nansonex (prescription only ) abroad for €15 with no presciption (costs €30 here). Also Zirtec ( anti-histamine), €8 for 20 tablets. €6 in Ireland for 7.

So if you've no holidays planned yourself, ask your friends or family to check out the prices and availability in the pharmacies where they are visiting.

    Important

*Make sure you give them the generic medical name (e.g. salbutomol) and not the brand name (e.g. Ventolin).
*Don't bother asking for any drugs that may be open to abuse. These are strcitly controlled. So no valium, xanax etc.

Pretty sure that buying prescription medication abroad is illegal...

No its not, in some countries you dont require a prescription, what you do outside the state is not the business of the Irish State within the legal limits of the state you are in.

Am locking this thread for the time being... tis a bit suspicious!

Myself, Ruu, WWM and Blade will mull this over with some fine port in hand, and decide on what to do with this particular 'Bargain Alert' as it's legality is questionable to say the least!
