Flixonase Allergy relief

I'm in the unfortunate position of having to use Flixonase year round and just got pissed off payiong €13 each couple of weeks for a tiny bottle of it in the local chemist (same price everywhere)

Found out that in NZ & Oz it is sold in double capacity bottles for less than a half size bottle here!

So checked out a few different online pharmacies (real ones!!) and this one was best price - http://www.overseas-online-pharmacy.com/index.cfm and do free shipping world wide.

Ordered on Saturday 16th June and it arrived today - total cost $40 incl. shipping for 3 large bottles (they charge in US dollars) - about €30. Same amount over here would cost €78!!!!

Seems its just a regular chemist in downtown Christchurch who has realised that some over the counter medicines are over priced elsewhere and simply set up a website - they don't sell any prescription medicines to non-NZ residents.

No import restrictions on anything as all items have european over the counter approval

    From the site: Shipping Costs
Overseas Online Pharmacy offers free Worldwide Delivery on all orders.

This sounds like a great find! Even for things like Nurofen, etc.

I think the thread on cheap meds sounds good too (even if it is a bit on the suspicious side that the guy has very few posts!)

I would definitely use it for regular OTC medicines anyway.

If you need it get a repeat prescription from your GP. You can claim the cost of of prescription medicine back at the end of the year against your tax.

Any monthly expenditure over 85.00 is reclaimable in full each month on the drug repayment scheme, other wise there is a tax relief for med expenses over 125.00 for single person, 250.00 for a family .

Thats true - and many people still do not use that scheme!

But for non-prescription medicine the site mentioned above does look very good IMHO.

Tax relief is at 20% - ie. miserable

I also believe the 125/250 thing was scrapped in last budget? [can't find any confirmation of this - must be wrong!]

The relief is at your highest rate of tax - so if you pay higher rate you'll get relief at higher rate.

I'm sure it's a much underused scheme but yet the Revenue are very up-front and its advertised year after year...

I got 1000 hayfever tabs years back for about €30, think €30 would get you about 100 here.
