    Hi!
I know there are other threads regarding msiss but I have a few specific questions to ask.If anyone would be able to shed some light it would be great!!
I am interested in computers. I absolutely love maths, particularly its practical uses and would like to get into business,on that basis the course seems ideal to me,would I be right in thinking this? What sort of job would I be looking at after the degree as the prospectus seems to give a very short overview of this.
However,in the back of my mind, I am also thinking that in 4 years time I MAY be interested in 2nd level teaching.I dont want my degree to block me off from this.I understand that msiss may seem like an odd option for someone whos considering teaching but im really just trying to keep my options open here!Does anyone one know anything about the hdip with regards msiss.I remember reading at some stage that it would qualify you to teach computer studies? However thats just one subject and I wasnt even aware it was on the curriculum??Would the high maths and business content not allow you to teach these subjects??
I would really appreciate any advice/info!Thank you!

MSISS seems like the ideal course for you. Career-wise you can really do anything you want, although most people go into consulting, investment banking or some other financial area because of the training and pay offered in these areas. My class will get their final results on Friday and every one of them that wants a job has one and all the others have plans in place.

Doing MSISS wouldn't preclude you from deciding to move to teaching in a few years, you would have to do a HDip at least but that's only a year, however you will probably feel like going off and doing something else first before deciding on your final career path.

I'm going back to do my final year again next year - long story - so have a lot of experience of the subjects and career prospects of MSISS. As ShoulderChip said, a good person to contact is Frank Bannister, the head of the department, his email address is frank.bannister AT tcd.ie, he's a fountain of information and is always happy to answer questions of prospective students.
