Poker film warning! (Lucky You)

many of you poker playing types may be tempted to go see the film "Lucky You" that was released on friday. Warning its a bad love story loosely based around a poker sub-plot. instead of going to this re-rent Rounders, you'll enjoy it alot more!!!

heard a review of it on the radio the other day and the girl said it was dire!! said she didn't understand the poker and the film was dreadful..

I thought she might just be uninterested because she didn't get the poker thing......

Yeah I seen it, that is to say I saw it! Even the pro's featured in it are terrible!! Big smiley dumbfounded heads on them, for once they haven't a clue what to do at the poker table....

meh, I never understood why everyone goes on about Rounders, it's ok but nothing special.

some good scenes in it tho especially with Damon and Malkovich (despite his terrible Russian accent)
Can't think of many better poker films except the Cincinatti Kid which was ok.

As a poker fan, I thought it was OK. By no means a great movie...
Pros were terrible though.... Negreanu really looked like he wanted to say something

Splicing of real footage from the WSOP was a nice touch, and the final table was fun.

Film was pure muck - seen it a month or two ago after i seen a cam recording version....dont know how i even had the will to finish it!! and the mucking of his cards to his dad...:mad: that just made me angry lol

Alas this warning was too late for me. jesus this film is bad. Hard to believe the same guy directed LA Confidential.
some highlights (in spoiler text for those who care)

1. Robert Duvals charcter getting a standing ovation for slowrolling a woman on the WSOP final table with a straight flush over K hi flush. shehe shows K hi flush , he looks at it for a bit, says "very nice...........but not nice enough" and flips up his straight flush. cue standing ovation from the crowd.The worst of numerous slowrolling incidents in the film.
2. Drew barrymores character when dumping her boyfriend " i'm making a good fold"
3 .More great dialogue.
Girl " was he your father?"
Guy "Yeah. How did you know?"
Girl " your eyes were sad"
Guy " In poker we call that a tell"
4. Cringe inducing Cameos from Sammy Farha , Negreaneau etc
The worst being an awful Table tapping scene with Jen Harman.

Its not even funny bad. just bad.Makes poker look far more boring than it actually is. 2 hours of my life i'll never get back. (mods feel free to move to bad beat section).
