Hows it going, I'd just like to know if anyone can tell me whether or not there are any kickboxing/ muay thai clubs around Dublin that would facilitate training kids. Ive a ten year old brother whos interested in doin a competitive "martial art" like kickboxing/MT but ive been searching the web and cant find much. Im doin thaiboxing for the last year up in bridgestone which is the main reason hes been at me to do something similar. We live out on the southside but are willing to travel..
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Cheers

I think Roper does a kids class. Not sure if it's MT or BJJ or a mix.

SBG northside may also do something.

    Thought of this afterwards....

For what it's worth: Boxing clubs take in kids quite young. We live out in Skerries and my little lad (9) is going to give it a lash in the club out in Balbriggan. There are almost certainly boxing clubs near you that would take him in, saving you the travel. It wouldn't be /as/ effective for self defence purposes (IMO, no wars please), but there's a very competitive boxing scene in Ireland if that's what he's after.

edit: If there were a Muay Thai club near us that took kids, I would take him there in preference to boxing, but we have a small baby so travel time is an issue for us.

Yeah theres a few decent boxing clubs around the area, think ballybrack boxing clubs alrite, few of my mates are in there. It would b nice to get him doin the thai tho. There was a few young kids fightin in dem amatuer fights in bridgestone back in april, dunno if ya remember? , I think they were moldovian or sumtin, wonder where they train??

Colm O'Reilly teaches a kids class in Firhouse, more information is available at www.spartanmma.com . The club is more grappling based than striking so it's not Muay Thai or Kickboxing but it's definitely a club with a good athmosphere and coach. If you're in the vicinity you should get in touch and check it out.

I wasn't able to make it at the time, can't remember why now. Probably whipped.

The last lad to fight at armageddon was Moldovian (the only draw match of the night). Vlad was his name. His brothers / mates were sitting in front of myself and my friend and we got talking with them. They said they were training out on the southside somewhere, and I remember thinking "ah, sure that's not right" because he was fighting under bridgestone. Maybe that's the case now. I dunno. I suppose they could do privates between them or something. I'll ask Paul (or if you're talking to him and you find out, post up).
