canon 350d slr advice

Help needed, I have a Canon 350d with 17-85 ef-s is usm lens and I can't seem to be able to capture a moving subject indoors without the flash. I get alot of blur. I have tried various modes without success. My little girl is a great Irish dancer but I've no pictures. Would anyone have any suggestions.
