    The Citroen SM was available with composite wheels 35+ years ago.

    What type of composite though? We sell composite wheels today, and all that means is that it's a 2 piece alloy, held together with bolts.

    Plastic composite wheels (carbon fibre IIRC) were available on the SM. As regards kerbing etc., they are supposed to be virtually indestructible as well as half the weight of steel wheels.
