I watched a music dvd in my imac the other day and i was told to pick a region code.

Today i put a film dvd in my imac and this is what i am told

The disc Region Code does not match the drive region code.
The drive Region Code must be changed to play this disc.

    New drive setting---- Region 2

current Drive setting ; region code 1
You may only change the region code 4 more time.

I AM MOST LIKELY MAD WRONG HERE---BUT DOES THIS MEAN I CAN ONLY EVER WATCH 4 MORE DVDS ON MY IMAC AND THEN THATS IT.

It means you can only change your region 4 more times.

You can region free it with some firmware hax, depending on your model.

the world is split into 6 regions for the release of dvds.

you can buy a region free dvd player that will play them all. in europe we are region 2. so you mac is saying that its set up for region 1 (USA) and its now changing it to region 2 to play the current disc. you can then only change the region 4 more times. so once you are watching region 2 (european discs) then you're ok. if you keep watching euro/american/euro/american you cant keep changing the region code.

you can unlock it with software, i dont have mine unlocked, i set it to region 1, copied all them to my hard drive, then set it to region 2 cos thats where most my dvds are from.
