advice sought...left old company just under a year ago under good term after 4 years there. My old boss rang me out of blue last week to offer me a job at a step above what i was doing and about 10% more than currently on. the new company r ok but have bad culture of communication which is frustrating. i left old place out of boredom but nervous of going back. the craic in old job was way better too but afraid of getting stuck in an industry. anyone done this before > how did you get on. thanks

Been there, done that and left again after 1.5 years

The fact you have left this job though and are now being offered more means you are seen as valuable.. so they may not be so lax about keeping you happy if you go back.. you could find more of a challenge and more responsibility etc.
And if you are still not happy.. just leave again.

Been there, done that. It all depends on whether going back weighs up better than staying where you are.

Would make a nice paragraph on the CV.... begged me they did , couldn't manage without me, going to burn the place down for the insurance unless I came back to save them :D

If its an industry you want to get away from why are you even considering going back?

Because the job I am in now is very specialised but only covers small area (I’m an accountant). So I have probably learned as much as I am going to already in the new job.

I’m considering going back to same industry due to promotion/ more money/ more responsibility offered which I don’t think I will really get here (very flat structure).

Its about weighing up the pro’s and con’s

List the reasons why you left. List the reasons why you went to the current job. Now list the reasons why you want to move back, and see is it worth it.
