I had two friends that got ipods for xmas but they could not download itunes cause they live out in the middle of nowhere and they had no broadband. blah blah blah.....story....... So i went to my computer and downloaded a windows version of itunes onto a cd for each of my friends, six minutes for each it took me.
Now all of the above happened in January and funny thing is when i sat down to do this, i had not got a fecking clue what to do, i chanced my arm and it worked. Six minutes, i could not believe it.

I was talking to another friend of mine yesterday, and i said i would download itunes for her, so off i go marching to my computer, arms swinging and saying to myself 'i am the man, i know what to do here' and guess what ???? i can't do it. I can't download windows itunes on a cd this time around. What did i do the last time that i can't do now??????

Would the shop do it for you?
When I bought an ipod last year(before I owned a macbook), the helpful guy in the 02 store downloaded and burned a copy and gave it to me.

Tbh, when you are spending hundreds of euro, you'd expect some top customer service and O2 duly obliged

Uhm surely you just downloaded the exe and burnt that onto a data CD using Toast or whatever???

Surely his problem is that he's using a Mac & Apple.com is auto-detecting his OS/browser & not providing him with a Windows-software download...
Oh, an answer? Search me, I can't remember how to do it either! :D

The itunes page always gives me a choice which version I want to download.

What i did in the end was, i went to apple and downloaded the windows itunes. It was on my desktop at the end of the download. I opened toast and dragged the file into it. Toast asked me to insert a blank cd and it put the file onto cd for me. It worked.

I am full sure i did not have to open toast the last time. I am full sure that the last time when i was in apple i downloaded it straight onto a cd from the apple site.

I am osx 10.4.9 ( will be 10.4.10) in the next few days), i would have been 10.4.8 when i last downloaded a windows itunes onto a cd. I reckon this changed on an upgrade, like for example when it changed to 10.4.9 the eject button had to held down anymore instead of been tapped.
When things do change with upgrade it can throw you off, but to look at this in a bright light at least it is keeping our brains sharp and we stand a better chance of not becoming dotty in the head in later life.
