    Hi Guys,
I am looking for a martial arts class in Ranelagh, Rathmines area. I did some shotokan many years ago and enjoyed it but I am looking for a MA class to implement a discipline into daily life. The elements important to me are not just fighting skills but an overall approach towards developing mind and body skills. Any ideas would be appreciated in which MA style to choose for the goals that I wish to achieve.
    Thanks.

I went to Rathmines college a few years ago and I saw an advertisement for regular, not Brazilian Ju Jitsu. I remember it was in St Marys college but I am not sure of the training days. Hopefully that is of some use to you.

    Hello,

Here's link to a club in Rathmines, so may be handy for you. http://www.happobiken.com/
All info you need is on club website. Again, maybe write more about what you want from an MA. I'm only including this club because it's the only one I know in Ranelagh / Rathmines. But it may not be what you're looking for. It is a classical Ju Jutsu / Ninjutsu class, called "Tai Jutsu". Friendly bunch of people.
I'm also mentioning it 'cos it fits with what you say above re: developing mind and body, and not just fighting skills. There's lots of interesting Japanese history linked with it. There is no sparring in this class though.

Re: the class Pride Fighter mentions, that class is linked with joe carslake, www.kyushoshinjitsu.com (although web site has been down recently). Ring him and he'll give you details.

I also know of TKD and kickboxing classes near enough Ranelagh direction. Terenure, Templeogue, Synge Street. They would be v different from the tai jutsu class though, so again, maybe give more ideas as to what you want. Or better still, try out a few different MA's first before you stick with one.

    Good luck,
    Simon

There's a Sanshou kickboxing club in St Mary's School, i'm not sure how close that is to you. There's a lad here who trains the club I'm sure he'll give you the details.
